Breast Surgery

SurgeryEvery year in Ireland, nearly 2,500 women are diagnosed with breast cancer.

If you feel a change in your breast, it’s vital that you go straight away to your GP to arrange a referral to a Consultant Breast Surgeon, who will co-ordinate the triple assessment process to diagnose the underlying problem in a timely and accurate way.

You will also want to be well-informed, not just so you know what to expect but also so you can find reassurance. That’s the aim of this section. It’s intended to answer at least some of the many questions you will have, especially if you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are preparing for surgery.
